2012 was a significant year in the life of our nation.
First, the national celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee – 60 years of unstinting, selfless and dedicated public service to our country. Second, the tremendously successful hosting of the Olympic games and how this was a powerful means of generating national unity and pride.
In late 2012 some 28 community leaders were invited by Imam Monawar Hussain, Deputy Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, to explore the idea of establishing HM Diamond Jubilee Legacy Fund for East Oxford - all unanimously agreed to support this initiative. In July 2013 this fund was launched. The fund is administered by the Oxfordshire Community Foundation.
The current steering committee consists of:
Imam Monawar Hussain, DL
Cllr Dick Wolff
Jayne Woodley, CEO, Oxfordshire Community Foundation
